Overview
Lexicon is a vocabulary app for retail brand experience design professionals, built by Satellite Design Studio. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.
Data We Collect
Lexicon does not require an account or registration. All user data is stored locally on your device.
Usage data stored on-device: Your saved terms, quiz history, learning streaks, onboarding preferences, region selection, and badge progress are stored in SwiftData and UserDefaults on your device only. This data never leaves your device.
Widget data: The widget reads your daily term via a shared App Group container — a sandboxed storage area shared only between the Lexicon app and its widget on your device. No data is transmitted externally.
Daily news feed: When you view the News Feed, the app makes a request to a Netlify serverless function operated by Satellite Design Studio. This function may fetch publicly available RSS headlines and uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate editorial summaries. The request does not include any personally identifiable information about you.
Third-Party Services
Netlify — hosts the serverless function that powers the News Feed. Netlify may log standard server-side request metadata (IP address, timestamp) as part of its infrastructure. See Netlify's privacy policy at netlify.com/privacy.
Anthropic Claude API — used server-side to summarise news articles. Article text from public RSS feeds is sent to Anthropic's API. No personal user data is included in these requests. See Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information.
- We do not use advertising SDKs or tracking frameworks.
- We do not sell, share, or monetise any user data.
- We do not use third-party analytics tools (e.g. Firebase, Mixpanel).
Data Retention and Deletion
All on-device data can be deleted at any time by deleting the Lexicon app from your device. This permanently removes all saved terms, quiz history, and preferences.
Children's Privacy
Lexicon is designed for professional adults and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
